My journey in the trade began at the age of 16 when I earned an apprenticeship with a local company in my hometown. Over the next seven years, I honed my skills and gained invaluable experience before deciding to establish my own business. One of my first steps was bringing my brother on board as an apprentice, guiding him through the same training program that shaped my career.

Due to the economic decline in Ireland, I left for Australia.

There I worked my way up from bricklayer to second in command of a 35-man crew we built everything from residential housing to large-scale commercial projects like schools hospitals and shopping centres gaining a lot of new knowledge and experience along the way.

I had brief spells in Denmark and Switzerland working on Googles data centres again learning new techniques and skills.

For family reasons I returned to Scotland where my wife is from.

Feeling settled in Glasgow, I founded Gavin Furlong & Son with the vision of building a company rooted in quality craftsmanship and strong relationships. What started as a small business has grown steadily through dedication and hard work.

Today, we are proud to have expanded to a level where we can take on our own apprentices, helping them begin their journey in the trade.
